Chapter 19-
By this time Anne was being treated as if it was the King himself. Anne
challenged her friends to an archery tournament. As she was about to take her
shot she heard running footsteps coming up the gravel, it was Nan. It seems she
had lent the book to George Zouche and while he was reading it, Dean, Dr
Sampson caught him. The Cardinal had his people watching for books like this so
the King would not get to read it (pg264). Dean took the book to the Cardinal.
Anne immediately went to Henry upset that Wolsey had stolen something of hers.
She was pleasantly surprised to learn the King knew of the book and thinks it
would help his annulment. Henry gave Anne his gold ring with diamonds, telling
her to show that to Wolsey that he was to return her book and then bring it to
him to read (pg266). They started kissing passionately, asking to see her
dukkies caught up in the moment, Anne was unsure how she was going to be able
to keep her woman hood. She then stopped Henry and gave him pleasure (pg 268).
Chapter 20-
Anne soon let her father know that she delivered the book to the King for him
to read himself. Also let him know that he was joyed to read it saying that it
is for all kings to read. Thomas knows this is good news for the cause (pg270).
While dining in Anne’s chambers Dr Foxe had returned with news of the Pope. Dr
Foxe tells the Henry and Anne he has the document that make good on all
requests (decretal commission). They are delighted and Henry insists that Dr
Foxe to wake the Cardinal if has but to let him know of the document (pg276).
Chapter
21-It was June and Anne was chilled with fever for several days. Henry sent Dr
Butts to tend to her. Anne became well again and had regained her strength by
mid-June (pg279). Anne decided to take a ride to celebrate her feeling better.
When they returned the palace was quiet. Elizabeth greats her telling her she
can’t go toher chambers that the sweaty sickness is back (pg 280). The last
time the sickness struck was 1525 and it wrecked the entire country. Her mother
then told her that Bess had gotten it. Anne wanted to go to the King but
learned he left already (pg 282). This angered Anne, she felt betrayed that he
had not stayed to take her but instead took Katherine (pg 284). Bess died of
the sweaty sickness.
Chapter
22-Anne was upset about Bess passing, then she heard crying from the next room.
She got up to see who was crying and why. Walked in to seeing her mother crying
with her father next to her (pg288).
Thomas tells his daughter that George has gotten sick, he fell
immediately when he arrived at Waltham. (pg290). Luckily within 2 days he was
writing telling them he was well again. Anne wrote a letter letting Henry know
how angry she was that he just left her. A message brought her a response.
Henry assured her that he loved her and not to be upset. Arriving at Hever,
Anne fell sick to the sweat. She had gotten so bad that she fell into
unconsciousness (pg293).
